Plan 9 online!

Heh heh... who knew? Ed Wood's 1959 "masterpiece" is in the public domain, and available for viewing online at archive.org.

I highly recommend seeing this film if you've seen/plan to see Tim Burton's movie Ed Wood, which is a great flick. IMDB has a pretty good list of Plan 9 trivia, and on the off chance you'd like to read a review first (in case "worst movie ever made" isn't specific enough for you), here are some reviews of the film.

Awesome. I didn't realize that was public domain -- there don't seem to be a lot of Cheapo DVD Versions like you typically get with PD films. I wish I picked up that one set Rhino put out a while ago that was packed in Cashmere, I think of a bunch of his films. I've seen it a couple times -- it's not nearly as bad as people say (which is not to say that, you know, it's not bad). It's got a couple of great lines, too. One of my all time favorites is "You peopple of Earth are idiots." and I tend to say that all the time.

But yeah -- there's lots of worse films out there. Like, say, Manos: The Hands of Fate or Monster-A-Go-Go (which might even be worse than Manos, actually), or plenty of stuff that never ever showed up on MST3K or had Joe Don Baker in it, even.

I've actually seen Manos: Hands Of Fate on MST3K, but I'd never heard of Monster A-Go-Go... it sounds hilariously awful. :D

For my best friend's birthday, I got him seasons 4 and 5 of MST3K on DVD at mst3kvideos.com (really good site and everything, if you're so inclined I endorse that product or service) and last weekend we saw that one. It was pretty... awful. It was apparently built out of the remains of an unfinished film, and... badly done. It's sort of funnyboring, because, well, NOTHING HAPPENS. Even at the end! It's... kind of worth seeing. (And, hey, for me, Joel refers to the bots as the Young Fresh Fellows once, which basically tickled us, since my friends and I are all huge Fellows fans...) It's the first MST3K where none of the host segments have nothing to do with the film.. because there's nothign in the film to base anything on.
