Every increase in your knowledge is a simultaneous decrease.
You learn and you unlearn at the same time. A new certainty
is a new doubt as well.

As annoying as Boing Boing is to me, they do have an amazing, sad account of New Orleans from someone who is there in that flooded city. Man, I'm beginning to wonder if the city will ever recover.
As much as I love New Orleans (it may be my favorite city ever), I hope its plight doesn't eclipse what has happened along the rest of the Gulf coast... Mobile, Biloxi, and assorted other points in between are also going through hell right now. I hope those other places don't become Katrina's equivalent of the 9-11 victims that died at the Pentagon and in that field in Pennsylvania... almost forgotten in lieu of those who suffered/died in a more telegenic locale.
Interesting...
Markos Moulitsas, owner of DailyKos.com, apparently took some heat (from Andrew Sullivan, anyway) for saying two days ago that Katrina was a bigger disaster than 9/11. Then today... our idiot king said the same thing.
Time to go see if Andrew Sullivan has posted about THAT. ;D
