Dead-eye Dick

Here's a cop with a sharp eye... for photography.

Graphicjunkies.com is the online gallery of a local policeman who carries a camera with him while he's on duty in SW Atlanta. He has an AWESOME sense of composition, and the subject matter is (mostly) my favorite visual subject: urban decay, and forgotten corners of the city. Some personal faves:

Those are pretty cool photos... I'll have to poke around that site more!

This is kinda neat, too, on a similar topic.

AH! I *love* the ghost-signs site. I'll have to see if I can scrounge up the pic I took a few years ago of a semi-famous one of these in the French Quarter in New Orleans.

Very cool, Matt. :)

There's actually a house near me that apparently used to be a hamburger stand, as on the side of it, it's got a Ghost Sign. I would love to live in that house, just because ghost signs are awesome. Unfortunately, the sign on that house is kind of hidden behind overhanging trees (and maybe a stairway?), but it's still visible, and at least they didn't paint over it.

There's really a lot of ghost signs in Seattle -- it's really neat -- though I suppose there are in pretty much any city, really.

Just sort of poking around online. There's a few books of Ghost Sign photographs, which is kinda cool, and I found a couple of vaguely related LJ Photo Sites, Urban_Decay (for Ghost Signs and other cultural detritus), and Signs & Wonders (For Signs in General, including Ghost Signs).

I might end up joining the latter, since it doesn't seem to terribly high traffic, and, well, signs in general are really neat.
